Runway crawlers are being converted into special purpose machines more and more. As of now, most crawler chains on the market show strong
signs of wear even after short periods of use and the extreme loads on the driving, front and running wheels drive up operating costs.
Although the rigid steel links are rubberised, they leave clearly visible tracks and damage on most surfaces even after a single change of direction.
The only solution is to enlarge the ground contact area while making use of flexible, elastic crawling links.
The FELASTEC® runway crawler chain offers just this solution. The FELASTEC® crawler chain flexibly adapts to all uneven surfaces and has a contact area that is several times larger than present standards, which results in maximum traction.
In addition, lateral and shearing forces are significantly lower when changing directions on terrain or paved surfaces. That means that all of the forces and loads acting on the driving elements are greatly reduced.
These "buffering" properties result in a way of driving that is comfortable and low in both noise and vibration.
During operating conditions which require extreme "traction" that digs into the surface, simply install additional screw elements.
The highly wear resistant FELASTEC® plastic with polyurethane base possesses a very high resistance to abrasion, cuts and tears and, thanks to an innovative fiber glass barrel core, remains flexible to -35°C.
